Ebay, I Salute You

I often go through phases of Ebaying coz there's some great bargains to be found on there! I was browsing the other day and came across three dresses that were brand new with the tags still on them and a fraction of the shop price so obviously I couldn't resist! (I got them all for a total of £26.59 including postage and packaging!).

I must have a thing about ruffles/frills at the moment coz they all have a touch of that detail. The first one is from Oasis and I have always loved this Electric Blue colour that has been around for a while. Now that I have been working out at the gym for quite some time, I think my arms are worth showing off now so the one shoulder design is perfect for that.
The second one is also from Oasis and has a similar frill design down the front. I have the PERFECT Steve Madden shoes to go with this dress! I like the fact that you could dress this down a bit with leggings or glam it up with sky high heels. As you can tell by now, I love bright colours and this purple number is no exception.
The third dress I got is from Monsoon (part of the fusion line) and I love the halterneck details with the ruffles. It's a lovely pink colour that will be perfect for my colouring. I love empire waists coz they put all the emphasis on the smallest part of your waist. I think this one is a bit more casual and would look great with some flat gladiator sandals, sunnies and the famous Lauren Conrad side hair braid.
I should be receiving these dresses next week and I can't wait!
Have you guys spied any bargains on Ebay lately?

Apoplexy or Apocalypse?

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 NIV

When I staffed our ministry exhibit at a fair, I attended the Steve Green vocal concert. A thousand fans enjoyed the repertoire of this musical minister. Earlier, he had autographed my copy of his CD and had visited our exhibit.

At the concert, I glanced at the open laptop computer of the man next to me. Instead of enjoying the program, he was typing a Bible study of Revelation, and was having trouble with the spelling of “apocalyptic.” He attempted several versions, but kept getting the spell-checker red underline. Finally, he accepted an alternate spelling the program offered: he clicked “apoplectic,” and it was automatically inserted.

I was becoming apoplectic myself, stifling my giggles during the music. Apologizing for my visual eavesdropping, I whispered to the writer that perhaps the word he wanted was for end-time major events, not for cerebral hemorrhage.

After the concert, I opened my Bible to the text Mr. Green had written in his autograph. It was “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NIV

I’ve been writing stories and articles since elementary school. At age 14, I sold my first articles to a newspaper, and in university, I studied writing and print communications, which has been my career. My skills are by no means “complete,” but God is not finished with me yet. Nearly all my writing and editing has been for Christian publications and institutions.

One ministry subscriber wrote that the apostle Paul should have listed Christian writers with evangelists and teachers. Paul was a gifted writer. When there was no word to describe a concept, he invented one. He was colorful, intellectual, logical, and above all, directed by the Holy Spirit. God did some of His best work in Paul!

What are your gifts? Have you asked God to bring you the experiences and insight to develop your gifts to full potential? Will you allow Him to carry you to completion in Christ Jesus? How will you use your gifts today to expand the borders of His kingdom?

5 Little Tiparoonies

Over the last couple of weeks I have come across quite a few tips from different sources and now that I use them myself, I thought I would share 5 of them with you:
  • If you want bee-stung lips but you don't want to fork out for an expensive lip plumper, you can get the same effect by applying some lipbalm/vaseline onto your lips then gently exfoliating your lips with a muslin cloth (I use my Liz Earle one) or an old toothbrush. This creates a slightly swollen effect that lasts for a few hours and it also prepares your lips for lipstick by making them super smooth. I just lightly dab concealer on my lips afterwards to neutralise the redness and apply my lippy as normal.
  • If, like me, you have deep set eyes and often get dark circles under them (not through lack of sleep, just genetics!), then this may be a good alternative to a dark smoky eye for you. By using a pale gold eyeshadow all over the lid and then a grey or pewter eyeliner, smudged along the lashline, it creates a lovely subtle smokey eye without looking too heavy. The two colours also really compliment blue eyes.
  • If you need to fill in your brows like I do, it's best to use a darker shade from the inner corner to the arch and then a lighter one for the outer parts. This makes your brows taper off nicely and looks more natural.
  • This is a really really basic tip but when I have said it to some people they kinda go "oooh I never thought of that" so I'll go ahead and just tell you. To get a really seamless natural look after applying my foundation, I ALWAYS blend the foundation from under my jawline into my neck with a scented body lotion (the same as the perfume I wear). This way, you never get tide-marks on your jawline and you smell nice as the scented body lotion helps to prolong your perfume.
  • I picked up a couple of amazing tips from Natalie a.k.a. NattyNGeorge...when she gets a breakout of spots, she uses a face mask made from crushed Aspirin tablets and a small amount of water to make a paste. She applied that and leaves for 15-20 mins and then rinses off. The before and after pics were amazing. This really does work! She also did a post on her tanning routine and that she never applies fake tan to her hands and feet. Instead she applies a gradual tanner to give a more natural look and avoid any weird tell tale fake tan patches. Genius!

Here it Goes Again, Diary of a Makeup Artist (or Hair Designer) #19

First: you may wanna turn the music off, I've got videos you just gotta see..

They say fashion repeats itself. When I was young I remember being horrified if my mother said something like, "I wore something just like that when I was your age." "Kill me now." I would think as my eyeballs rolled back in my head. Well once again my mother was right. All around me these days I am seeing "mini high school me's" sprinkled throughout society. Skin tight jeans, big lion mane hair, stripes, fingerless gloves and checkered Van's... Oh yea "I used to wear something just like that when I was their age." que eyeroll

As we were standing in the lines of the Magic Kingdom, I was blog inspired by the numerous amounts of treacherous backcombing sites among the Mickey lovers. While inching our way closer to our moment with the Mouse man, I tried to stand my children in the direction of this as to not draw any attention to the fact that what I was really dying to take a picture of was this.

Was this bumpits gone bad?? Upon closer inspection I realized it was just backcombing gone bad. Later I spied this in the Grizzly River Run ride line..

My children were extremely un-helpful in trying to capture this beauty of a beast job. "Mom don't be so mean, you're embarrassing us." Clearly I'm out of touch here, because I saw more and more wonders on the heads of teens. In my mind I am a back combing expert. My credits include:
1. 2. 3.
1. 80's rocker chick. Okay so I was no eyebrow expert then but, the hair totally rocked. 2. I learned how to do hair and wigs from a 60's hair dresser. Here is just one of my many backcombing creations. 3. I can untangle this beauty in minutes..

Nobody backcombs like me... I pride myself on my back combing ability, if there was a Pulitzer for backcombing, I would have one. Okay enough about me...

I decided to research and lemme tell you! WAS IT FUN {NY}! So here is what I learned, my old hairdo is now called "scene hair" part of the "Emo" (emotive hardcore) culture. Back in my day it was, I wish i was a hairband groupie hairdo. I also learned that these kids are tearing their hair up, its quite frightening. So Ive posted my favorite tutorials on how to "rat" "tease" "break" "ruin" your hair ...

This first one shows you exactly how to break your hair off at the root... "push down and rip back, push down and rip back" eh.. who needs thick hair when we have the option of hair extensions at Sally's beauty supply for only $50 a package...

Here we have a lovely young man who explains to us how bad hygiene and more chemicals make for better hair... I'm calling him up to see if he and apply to be a role model for my boy... I get goose pimples just thinking about it.. I hope he"ll throw in a few grammar lessons as well..

My only problem with this cutie is her tools, otherwise she has a pretty close idea of how to do it right. I'm seriously considering copying her and making my own.

Whad'ya think should I school these kids on how to do it right???

Let me count the ways I love thee....

So, I know I said I had decided on my wedding dress but last week I tried one on that blew that out of the water! The one I'm getting is called Candice and it's by Blue by Enzoani. As soon as I put it on, I knew I had to get it...it's quite flamboyant with it's teardrop beading and detail but it's so me...check it out here http://www.brides.com/fashion/dresses/gallery/wedding_dresses/vendor/designer/enzoani/detail/166481?offset=5

I love the Italian flair it has and the colour I tried on was Ivory but because it's made from French taffetta, it had a iridescent sheen to it so it changed colour slightly in the light...it's just exquisite. Check out the dress in the catwalk show on YouTube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I1tvYQb5oc&feature=channel_page

My dress is 5 mins and 20 seconds into the video and it shows you the beautiful Ivory/Pale Gold colour that I'm getting. I will be ordering it this week and I'm sooooo excited!!!

Back in the Saddle Again!

Well the California Dreamin is over for now, we are back in the swing of things in good old Boulder City. School started two days ago and the vacation ended a week ago. It was nice to escape the Vegas heat and I did sneak off to Mickey's place for a day (one day is CLEARLY not enough time to hang at the Magic Kindom). Even though I could have spent a week there, my marriage would never have survived, you see my hubby has a bad taste for Disneyland.
He says its my fault, that I've burned him out on it. I say its because he doesn't have that twinkle in his eye, that Disney Magic in his blood. Well at least the monkeys do.
He does have some great pool boy skills though. Wink wink!
Well the dreamy do nothing vacation came to an end and the real world has set in. Problem with dreamy is it gets boring and you have nothing to blog about except dreaminess. Eh!

I've been back a week, so there's plenty of crap to report, but I'll start here... Good to be back at the mac!

Brutti, sporchi e cattivi

Titel: Brutti, sporchi e cattivi / Fula, skitiga och elaka
Genre: Komedi/Drama
Land: Italien
År: 1976
Regi: Ettore Scola
I rollerna: Nino Manfredi, Francesco Anniballi, Maria Bosco, Giselda Castrini

Gillar bl.a.
