Sea | Introduction | Finding Nemo

"Think of it. On the surface there is hunger and fear. Men still exercise unjust laws. They fight, tear one another to pieces. A mere few feet beneath the waves their reign ceases, their evil drowns. Here on the ocean floor is the only independence. Here I am free! Imagine what would happen if they controlled machines such as this submarine boat. Far better that they think there's a monster and hunt me with harpoons."

Captain Nemo, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1954

Beer/Bear | Introduction | Exeunt, Pursued By A Beer

'The government will fall that raises the price of beer.' Czech Proverb

'Minimum alcohol price levels planned by coalition.' BBC News

'It would be fitting, I think, if among the last man-made tracks on earth would be found the huge footprints of the great brown bear.' Earl Fleming

This week, Beer/Bear.  Your guess is as good as mine.

Biography | Introduction | The Life And Times of Legacy Writing

'A lot of people seem to have the wrong idea about me. In fact, pretty much everything I read about myself is totally ridiculous. Newspapers and magazines write that I'm spoiled and privileged, and that all I do is dance on tabletops and party with my friends. They think I instantly became famous because I was born into a rich, well-known family, and everything has come so easily to me. They like to think everything they read about me in the tabloids is true. Well, you can't always believe what you read, right? So I've finally decided to give you a sneak peek into my very hyped life - so you can know the real me.'

Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose, by Paris Hilton (paragraph one).

'Near the park which my bedroom overlooks there came to stay a family which owned a pack of pugs, five or six of them, active little dogs, none of them overweight as pugs so often are. I saw them recently on their morning walk, and they caused me a pang. I have always wanted a pug and now I can't have one, because buying a puppy when you are too old to take it for walks is unfair. There are dog-walkers, of course; but the best part of owning a dog is walking with it, enjoying its delight when it detects the signs that a walk is imminent, and its glee when its lead is unsnapped and it can bound off over the grass, casting cheerful looks back at you from time to time to make sure that you are still in touch. Our own dog is as old in dog years as I am in human ones (mine amount to eighty-nine), and wants no more than the little potter I can still provide, but I enjoy watching other people's animals busy about their pleasures.'

Somewhere Towards The End, by Diana Athill (paragraph one).

Post | Introduction/Poetry | Suffix To Say

Week 18 | Post | Contents

Tuesday | Poetry | Suffix To Say
Friday | Chapbook | Afterwards, by Jamie Baxter

Post 9/11,
is it possible to post
anything resembling
a postulate without
posturing?

In this world of postal strikes
and lamp-post hangings
is there any point posting bail?
To be allowed to re-enter
…what?

Years after the last post,
when this poor planet’s
post-nuclear detonation
and some inquisitive alien
species floats over
to do the post-mortem
on the rubble, what
will they make of us?

In the postlapsarian age,
what will they make of this
post-Modern post?
Be gentle,
fickle posterity.

I am no imposter
(and have no repost).
I’ve no posterior motives
and have posed no threat.
I’ve no wish to postpone
the inevitable postcoital coyness.
I’m the post-op poster child
for the poseurs, post-dated
for posthumous obscurity.

What was I supposed to say?
My post-graduate was a posterized ploy
dreamt up by postilions and priests
– poorly signposted pratfalls.
Please, fresh postpartum parents
poised to provide,
practice your postprandial prayers
for the postmen,

who
won’t
knock
after
four.

Who was the last notch on your bed post?

Answers on a postcard.

Live Performance | Introduction | Human as Medium

Week 14 | Live Performance | Contents

Tuesday | Poetry | Bukowski
Wednesday | Fiction | Good Times With Weapons
Saturday | Mixtape | Cypress Grove

Not wanting to put an introduction after the rest of the week, I'll leave this as 'under construction' - as I'm heading to Edinburgh today, it seems appropriate to write about that when discussing live performance.

So for now...this week we will (at some point) we talking about Live Performance.
