Stephanie's Suck-Fest

Hi. I was planning to post about the Virtue Chronicles some more. I need help with a character's name and I wanted to get your opinion. But I feel like hosting a pity party instead. You are invited, {but not obligated} to come.

My bad week started Wednesday, when school started. {Coincidence? I think not.}

I'm already behind in math. Whoopee! And I need to apply to college NOW. Like, right now. And I don't even have the SAT score to get in because of math. I got 31% of the SAT math. Shoot me.

There's no way in hell that I can do physics {just being realistic here}, which is technically okay because I have all the science credits I need to graduate, but it was discouraging to realize how much I suck.

Class in general just bored me. Blah.

Thursday, math went horribly again. Lesson 1 and I needed help with literally half the problems. Screw this. Screw myself. Screw math.

On Friday, my family got into some horrible mood where they blame all their problems on me and then give me the silent treatment when I react to them really badly. That doesn't actually bother me, except for the part where whenever I need a favor, I'm the devil.

Also on Friday, none of my friends could go to a movie. So I spent Friday night...on my couch--not talking to my family.

On Saturday I slept too late and was rushed trying to catch a different movie which I was being taken to by my mother who still wasn't really speaking to me. Fun stuff.

Then I had an actually good evening involving friends and ice cream, but then of course I had to get back in the car with my family, who suck, and go home, which sucks.

Yesterday was probably the BEST day of all. And by 'best' I mean 'worst'."

I woke up late.
I lost my shoes.
My makeup wouldn't look right.
My new dress makes me look fat.
My new shirt shows my bra.
My new jacket was too heavy to wear this time of year to cover up the previous two issues.
My family rushed me.
I dropped my breakfast on the floor.
I was made to clean the house, which I didn't do yesterday. {Which is really completely fair, but it still added to the suckishness of my day.}
My newest close friend ran away from home.

Yes. Yes, she did. Back to her mom, who's NOT a good...anything. Guardian, influence, friend, whatever. She's bad news. And I was really getting to be close to this girl. And JUST THE DAY BEFORE we hung out and had a great time and her Facebook status was even about how much fun she had. And now she's gone.

I feel like I lost two friends in the same week, which is really melodramatic, I guess. Ellie didn't LEAVE she just got ENGAGED.

*blood pressure rises*

Aw, shit. My mom just came down and was really nice to me and tried to help me feel better. And now I feel like a moron for being rude about her this whole post.

But she really has been a girl dog too, I swear.

*SIGH* Whatever.

This past week sucked. Let's hope today is an improvement.

Oh God. It's Monday.

There's just no hope, is there?

XD

Mental Breakdown

I feel like I'm going to throw up. I was just lying in bed, journaling, when I get this text message from my Official Best Friend:

"Oh, yeah, I'll help you with those character names later! And guess what?? I got engaged!"

................................

...........................................................................................................

Oh my God.

Oh my God.

Oh my GAWD. WHAT?!

My best friend is...is...is...

I was literally speechless for five minutes. Not even the Sagrada Familia hit me that hard. I just laid there and this weird croaking sound kept coming out of my mouth.

What.

What.

What?

Is she insane? Like, certifiably mental? She's been dating Brian for what, two months now? What the fucking hell? {I'm sorry, I never say stuff like that. I'm just typing the way I'm thinking right now.}

I'm happy for her. I really am. I mean, I must be. My best friend is getting married--

OH GODDDDD. MY BEST FRIEND IS GETTING MARRIED?????????

DO YOU GUYS EVEN REALIZE HOW RIDICULOUS AND WRONG AND SCARY THAT SOUNDS? WE ARE SEVENTEEN, GUYS, SEVENTEEN. I thought I had at LEAST a few more years to prepare for this crap!!

No, she's not pregnant. She's just...Ellie. That's it, she's just herself. She's like this. She's...engaged...

I feel like I may vomit.

Then on the other hand...

OMG MY BEST FRIEND IS ENGAGED!! :DDDDDDDD OMG I AM SO HAPPY FOR HER THIS IS INCREDIBLE MY BEST FRIEND IS IN LOVE AND GETTING MARRIED AND OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She asked me to be a bridesmaid!

At her wedding. At my best friend's WEDDING.

Where are they gonna live? She doesn't work, he doesn't work. How is THIS gonna work? She's gonna have KIDS by the time I'm in COLLEGE...is she even gonna GO to college now? Holy shit, what about all the plans she had? What about all the stuff we talked about about, like, NOT BEING RETARDED AND DOING STUFF LIKE THIS?

O_O

I think I need a hug...

Friends and Family

"Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are."
— Markus Zusak, Australian novelist

It used to be a viral marketing campaign for the MCI telephone company: “Friends and Family” was a friend circle of free long-distance calling. The point was to recruit your friends and family to subscribe to MCI so they could call more friends and family, who would add their friends and family, and so on, and so on… Having worked in PR and marketing for years, I’m disinclined to use marketing phrases in my writing or conversation. It’s trite. I won’t wear statement apparel, and am actually anti-designer label. If they want me to wear their logo or advertise their company, they can dang-well pay me for it.

But back to the friends and family thing. I have some great ones. There are some who pray for me regularly without needing a reminder. Some who are sensitive to the things I don’t say, and go out of their way to help. Some who will water my plants and take care of my pets so I can get a much-needed break. Some who are faithful to keep in touch, or send me messages about news or jobs or ideas. Some who actually believe and encourage my claims or hopes. Some who have sent gifts of money when I’d given no hint I was desperate. Some who have grieved with me and listened to my rants. Some who are professional colleagues but who like me as a personal friend. Some who say they’re inspired by my comments at Bible study, my writing, or my Facebook comments. Some who admire my opinion of what politicians ought to be doing. Some who sense or observe a need, and fill my need with the gifts of time, skill, expertise, and even cash. Some who, when I make a 350-mile trip back to visit my former life, lay down other plans in order to take me out to lunch, dinner, the movies, a drop-in chat, and (are you ready for this?) thousands of dollars’ worth of dental treatments at her expense. [post continues below images]

Every one of those gifts is evidence of their love and commitment to friendship—with me! I treasure the givers more than the gifts.

It’s not that I have such terrible self-esteem (well, not usually, anyway), but probably like you and many others, I wonder what in the world they’re thinking, that they should show me such love and honor. Is it because they have big hearts, or that their spirits are open to God’s prompting, or that they see a need they can fill and take initiative, or what? Am I so entertaining or such a valuable social asset?

While thanking a couple for treating me to a three-hour lunch and delightful conversation, I asked one of them what made her decide to come all that way. She looked surprised that I asked. “It’s because we love you, Christy!” she said.

This scripture is meant to be a proverb about the superficiality of people who value you only for what you can do for them, but just this once, I’m going to turn it around and upside down. I’m without income, and struggling with finances. But rather than being despised, I'm loved. The poor are despised even by their neighbors, while the rich have many “friends.” Proverbs 14:20 NLT  It’s true. I do have many friends. Therefore, I must be rich. Woo-hooooooooooo!

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Cor. 13:4-7 NLT

Character Judge

I like to pride myself on being a good judge of character.

LOLJK.

I suck, guys. I unbelievably suck. At least, I used to. In fact, you could almost guarantee that someone would be the exactly opposite of what I judged them to be.

She seems nice! = She's a total bitch.
He's so real. = He's a player.
She's really stuck up. = She's sweet and shy.
He seems like fun. = He's a stick-in-the-mud.

And so on.

Then you have my friend Ellie who's always been a killer character judge. She judges people the instant she meets them--and she's always right.

She's a total bitch.
He's a player.
She's sweet and shy.
He's a stick-in-the-mud.

Except for lately. See lately our personalities have been doing strange 180s. She used to be very gray-area, now I'm starting to see things less in black and white. She used to have commitment issues, now it's me who can't stick to a decision. I used to suck at judging people, now it's her turn.

It all started with her idiot boyfriend. I judged him to be an emotional wreck of a person, manipulative, wussy and weak in his faith. She didn't see it.

I was right. Ha.

*clears throat* Sorry about that...

And she totally didn't see coming what happened in my little love...situation.

What's happening to us?? Things you used to count on, like me being wrong and her being right on, are suddenly falling apart. What's next? Gravity throws us upward? Goldfish don't smile back? Doctor Doofenshmirtz becomes good?

Oh well. At least there's still death and taxes.

Stereotypes...

Thanks for following, Charlotte! :D Love your blog.

Are they good or bad? I don't care {at least at the moment. Normally it's the kind of debate I'd like.}. Today I am here to embrace them in a discussion of

Guy Stereotypes: Tall Dark and Handsome vs. Sweet Sensitive Surfer

Two stereotypes, two choices, two opposite elements. Both can be hott, I'll be the first to admit, but every girl has a "Type," and mine just happens to be the former, TDH.

He's mysterious, shadowy and sarcastic. Dark hair, mischievous eyes, smooth voice. Intense, clever and the tiniest bit dangerous.

Just out of curiosity, I Googled "tall dark and handsome." My screen filled with images like this

this

and this

If there had been any doubt in my mind that this was my Type, it was immediately erased.

On the other hand, my good friend Brianna is partial to the Triple S type. Chill, blonde and sensitive. The sparkling white smile, the sexy tanned skin, the bright blue eyes. Funny and sweet the slightest bit shy.

I Googled "hott blonde guys" in order to get some examples.

Yeah. Not my type.

What about you guys? Is your type TDH or the Triple S?

"The Type"

I think girls have more developed taste than guys when it comes to the opposite sex. Would you agree?

I'm going to assume you do, considering most of the people who follow this blog are of the female persuasion.

Here's how I, as a girl, see it: with guys, there is always "the type." There are things that guys ALL love about girls, like a check list, and when each requirement is met, the girl is pronounced "hott." Like for instance, whoever this is.
Every guy will think she's good-looking.

Of course, some guys may like a girl that other guys don't. That can happen. BUT. There are some girls that every single guy ever is going to agree is attractive.

That is not the case with girls. There is no "type" with us. There is no universal "hott." No matter who the guy is, there will be a girl out there who disagrees. We have our own preferences. There is not a checklist of characteristics that goes for every female on the planet.

For example, I think Thomas Dekker is one sexy man.
My best friend Cassidy does not. {How the hell--anyway.}

Conversely, Cassidy thinks Ryan Reynolds is the stuff, when I just...don't. At all.
{Although he does have nice abs.}

As a matter of fact, Cassidy and I have almost the exact opposite taste in guys. We were bored and even made a list one day of guys I like that she doesn't, and vice versa. We came up with a list of characteristics that I especially like and dislike, and ones she especially likes and dislikes.

Because nothing is private in today's warped and pathetic society, I'll share the lists with you.

Stephanie Likes:
1. Expressive eyebrows
2. Thinnish faces
3. Tall
4. Tan
5. Intense eyes

Stephanie Hates:
Round faces
Poofy lips

Cassidy's Likes:
1. Squinty eyes
2. Squarish face
3. Big lips
4. Tall
5. Dark

Cassidy's Dislikes:
Thin faces
Narrow chins

It's funny how two people {who are usually so alike} can have such different opinions on hottness.

Why is it exactly? Is it because girls are more complex? Are we more in tune to the little things, like expression and the implications of a certain look? Maybe we're just deeper. It takes more than hair and boobs to get our attention XD

{Just kidding, boys.

You know, kind of.}

What do you like/dislike about the opposite sex looks-wise?

Quite Unrequited

Yes, my "love" for My Guy is unrequited, but it's also fading and that's not what this post is about.

It's about a certain boy we shall call Tom.

I saw Tom for the first time exactly one year ago at prom. He ran past me and a friend in a blur and I noticed that he looked like Drake Bell.

A few months ago, he started FB stalking me. Not the actually creepy kind of stalking, just the kind that might be flattering if it were anyone but him.

See, when I say he looks like Drake Bell...I mean, he does. But kind of like what Drake Bell would look like if he were... Okay, I don't wanna be mean. Tom just isn't quite Drake Bell, let's leave it at that.

So, Tom starts chatting me up. I'm not interested. I pretty much don't respond. Period.

A few weeks later, he becomes so incessant that I FB chat him. He seems nice. Not really fast enough with puns and teasing to keep up with me though, so I demolish him a lot. And it's not fun when you win all the time.

Sam suggested I give him a chance.

Me: "Sam. He's like 5'5"."

Just for the record, I am 5'8" and like to wear heels.

So for me, as shallow as it might be, that's an automatic "No thanks, it wouldn't work out."

But he's persistent, which is flattering, but not always effective. In this case it's just not effective. At all.

So the other day, I was Facebook chatting Tom {because I was feeling bored and sadistic} and also started a conversation with Aaron, one of my good friends who helps me a lot with love-life issues XD He's pretty great.

It wasn't long before the conversations took turns for the hilarious. However it's possible that you had to be there, so I've decided to bring you back to my past. How? I am a freak, and since Facebook doesn't record your chats, I have to do it for myself. I copy and paste every conversation I've ever had via FB chat into a Word document. And I'm going to share these two with you.

Interactions between me and Aaron are orange, interactions between me and Tom are green. I've tried to splice things together so that the times match up :) My commentaries are in {parenthesis}

We'd been talking about my hating chemistry for a few minutes, when suddenly...
Tom • 11:22pm
Ok i have a proposition for you {Uh-oh.}

Me • 11:22pm
Um, what is it?

Tom • 11:23pm
Ok, if you make time to see me. I will telepathically give you all my chemistry knowledge
deal?

Me • 11:23pm
You first :P

Tom • 11:24pm
So wait, i gotta give you the knowledge first?

Me • 11:24pm

Tom • 11:25pm

Aaron • 11:28pm

Aaron • 11:28pm

I'm 5'8".

Aaron • 11:29pm

Me • 11:29pm

Aaron • 11:29pm

BTW, heels are evil.

Me • 11:29pm
It's okay, i'm not really into the dating thing :)

See, im bad at this stuff {Well, THAT'S probably true...}

Me • 11:29pm

I'm not really awkward, so even if you think you are, it doesn't bother me. {I think I may be too nice.}

Aaron • 11:31pm
how old is he?

Me • 11:31pm
I think I may be too nice.
Older than me at least.
Not sure how much. He's 17 too, but he was before me.

Aaron • 11:31pm
dangit
that would've been a decent loophole...
WAIT
I HAVE IT

Me • 11:31pm
Yea--what??

Aaron • 11:31pm
Okay, so is there anyone else you're looking to date soon?

Me • 11:31pm
I wish. But no.

Aaron • 11:31pm

Me • 11:32pm
...yay.

Aaron • 11:32pm
you can say that you've decided you're not going to date for the moment.

Me • 11:32pm
Good one. *starts typing* {Even though I already said it, I might as well pretend I got the idea from Aaron. Pet his man-ego.}

Tom • 11:32pm
Haha ok
Well here
We should go on a date
that isnt a date
yet it is {And this is his idea of being witty...}

Me • 11:33pm
I'll do hanging out, that's really hanging out because it's just hanging out ;P

Me • 11:32
He says
"Well here
We should go on a date
that isnt a date
yet it is"
Ergh.

Aaron • 11:33pm
Tell him "That makes no sense."

Me • 11:34pm
I said "I'll do hanging out, that's really hanging out because it's just hanging out ;P"
because i'm too nice to say "NOOO"

Aarpm • 11:34pm
gah
>_<
no
at the very least, only hang out in groups

Me • 11:35pm
Well! ....yeahh.
Yeah. Definitely.
I drag my friend Cassidy into everything with me anyway.

Aaron • 11:43pm
you should reassert the "NOT DATING" thing
just to be clear
that you are not to be won over

Me • 11:43pm
Mkay. I will if it comes back.
We're hating on Jersey Shore right now.

NINE MINUTES LATER:

Tom • 11:52pm
So ideas
for our date
Ima call it that to annoy you

Me • 11:52pm
he's at it again

Aaron • 11:53pm
Tell him you're actually betrothed.

Me • 12:01am

Me • 12:08am
"No really

If he were smart he'd search my FB friends for a Peter.
There isn't one.

Aaron • 12:09am
well, no, see, that's the thing
you've not seen each other since birth
you don't even know him, really.

Me • 12:09am
OH MY GOSH, THIS IS INSANE.
*is doing it*

Me • 12:09am
I haven't seen him since birth.

Tom • 12:09am
But you are supposed to marry him?

Me • 12:09am:
OH MY GAWD HE BELIEVES ME.

Aaron • 12:10am

Me • 12:10am
And now he's really sorry for me.
LOLSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
"but you are supposed to marry him?"

Aaron • 12:10am
hhaaaaaa

Me • 12:11am
So....yes....
How am I ever going to get out of this? I mean, I can tell him now, or...later.

Aaron • 12:11am
just ask him never to bring it up, ever again.

Me • 12:11am
oh wow...that's so serious-sounding....'kay....
omg...

Aaron • 12:12am
well, hey, it's a complicated issue, and you don't like talking about it

Me • 12:12am
Let's never bring it up again. *sigh*

Tom • 12:13am
I feel like i am being trolled

Me • 12:14am

He's gone silent again..
"I feel like i am being trolled"
Okay I feel bad XD He's always talking about how girls mess with him and he believes them because he's nice...
Or something.

Aaron • 12:14am
no, it's because he's a moron
:P

Me • 12:15am

:P
Well yeah.
But...i think i'm just gonna completely change the subject--ooh he's typing
uh. "Why dont you get alot of guys flirting with you?"
"A lot" is two words, dude
I kind of do. I mostly just glare at them and they go away though. Except for THIS GUY.
OH NO HE'S GONNA COMPLIMENT ME
HE DID.
UGH.

Aaron • 12:18am
ha

Me • 12:18am
apparently i'm pretty. *sigh*

Aaron • 12:19am
don't let it go to your head, princess.

Me 12:19am

SIX MINUTES LATER

Tom • 12:25am
I just want a happy relationship like ALL my friends

Me • 12:25am
Oh boy now he's on a spiel about wanting a happy relationship like all his other friends.

Aaron 12:26

Me • 12:32am

Aaron • 12:33am
oh geez

Me • 12:33am
telling him he'll find someone at college next year. or whatever

Aaron • 12:33am
it's like giving a puppy cuddles
He'll just want more

Me • 12:33am
but he's pathetic!

Aaron • 12:33
and he'll be licking your face, and you'll be like AUGH NO WHYDIDIDOTHIS?!?

Tom • 12:33am
Too bad...

Me • 12:34am

Me • 12:35am

Prom Recap

Thanks for following, the eternal list XD

So. The moment you've all forgotten about been waiting for...

PROM PICTURES!

To be honest, I have, like, very few. Because my sister didn't take many and the pictures my dad took are going to rot on his camera forever. But here's what I've got:

Stuffing our faces because we're totally NOT going to Olive Garden in less than two hours.

Curls and dress and...such.
Kirsten, Emma, Yours Truly and Cassidy (Tori ended up not coming over to get ready).

So, since the pictures kind of don't do much here, I'll give you a quick rundown of prom night.

***WARNING*** This prom was not especially great, so please don't get too excited about this. I'm going to burst your Stephanie-Had-An-Amazing-Night bubble. S0z.

This weekend was not only prom, but the weekend a bunch of my dad's family came to visit. When my friends arrived (thirty-five minutes late XD), they were bombarded with thirteen eccentric relatives from my loveably opinionated half-aunt to my 6'3" 16-year-old cousin.

{I may need to do an entire post on my family. That would really be something.}

I rescued my friends from the large mob of relatives and we went downstairs to get ready. In order for us to leave at 5:45, Emma suggested we come with our makeup done so she would just have to do our hair and we could get out the door. So I did.

I was alone.

I think we underestimated the time it takes to curl hair.

{And the amount of hairspray it takes to make it STAAAAAAY.}

At 5:15, my hair was almost finished. I'd told Emma the idea I was going for {loose curls half up}, but it was going...interestingly. A lot of it looked really good, but the curl came out of the top within a few minutes, leaving me looking kind of bedraggled. We had to work with it for a while.

After my hair was done, I put on my dress, which somehow didn't ruin the curls. Emma started on Kirsten's hair: tight ringlets. When she was done at about 6:10 (twenty minutes after the scheduled departure time), she looked kind of like Shirley Temple. I was glad I had specified "loose curls" for myself, although it didn't look bad on Kirsten.

After we were all ready, we once again braved the hoard of cooing relatives and stood for pictures. Everyone was really sweet and told us we looked beautiful.

The weather was supposed to be gorgeous yesterday, sunny and in the upper 70s, buuut it was storming to beat the band and in the 60s. Go figure. So the dads rushed outside and drove Kirsten's car into the garage for us so we wouldn't show up to the prom looking like drowned cats.

By this time it's about 6:30. We were supposed to be at the restaurant by 6. Google Maps told us it would take 37 minutes to get there.

*sheepish laugh*

Poor Tori and Brandon (her boyfriend), trying to hold a table for us. I felt pretty bad honestly, but there wasn't a lot we could do besides call and apologize.

So, we got in the car, which was actually Kirsten's dad's van {we're so cool} and drove off into the gushing rain. I took about ten minutes to make a playlist of good music on Kirsten's iPod and we sped down the highway {at a safe and responsible speed, of course >.>}.

After taking a brief detour in which we knew exactly where we were but not where we were going, we got to Olive Garden at 7:15. Guess who was at the table across from us?

My Guy. {Who needs a BlogName. I am up for suggestions on that.}

Awesome {<--sarcasm}. Why sarcasm? Because he's not in class, which means he will be rude and piss me off. He was and did. Although it may have had something to do with Emma saying "What is he doing here??" rather loudly. After that we had no contact whatsoever with him the entire night. More on that later.

While waiting for our food to arrive, we girls made a bathroom run. {I don't know why, we just did. I don't think anyone actually had to go.} We waltzed into the bathroom and I glanced at myself in the mirror.

Total. Curl. Failure.

My hair looked pretty much awful. The curl was completely gone on one side, giving me the look of someone who tried really hard but just couldn't pull off "pretty." One thing I hate: looking bad. Anther thing I hate: looking like I tried hard. Yet another thing I hate: looking like I tried hard--and failed.

So that bothered me. But I managed to cowgirl up and get over it XD

When we got back to the table, our food was there, yippee! Five Cheese Ziti is soooo good by the way, although I wouldn't recommend eating a massive amount of it in a prom dress. I was afraid to move.

We finished eating (after having multiple awkward moments with various waiters including hardcore sarcasm and Justin Bieber), and headed over to the prom. Of course by that time (on account of some slooooooow service at Olive Garden), it was 8:45 -__-

I was pumped when we got there. Last year I was nervous and awkward and didn't want to look stupid. This year? I DIDN'T GET A DAMN :D WOOOOOOT! All I wanted to do was get out on the dance floor in the very middle and daaaaance. So we did.

For like five seconds. Then it hit us: You cannot dance to this music.

I don't remember what song it was, but it was not a winner. So we resigned ourselves to surveying the refreshments table during the rest of the song.

This is when we saw My Guy, across the room with a couple of girls. He looked miserable. We already knew he didn't even want to be there; his parents had made him come. Still, he could at least try to have a little fun.

I wanted to go talk to him. Everyone else was highly against it, "He'll just ignore us." "He'll be rude." "He'll make us feel stupid." "Look, all his friends are around." I pretty much didn't care. 1) I wanted to talk to him and 2) So he's a douche, why should that automatically transform us into bitches?

But by the time I was even making a move to go over, he and his girl friends were hightailing it out the door onto the porch.

So scratch the friendly idea.

We finished taking pictures and decided to try dancing again.

Another slow song. Couples paired off around us, slow dancing. Fuuuuun.

So we tried to dance, but it wasn't much of a hit with that one. We waited.

And waited.

And kind of waited the entire night.

"Did we miss the good songs?" we asked each other. "Did they all play before we got here?" We asked around. The answer was no. No, we had not missed the good songs; there weren't any.

I think they played about four songs that you could dance to the entire time: Dynamite, Shawty's Like a Melody, Fireworks, and something else... Anyway, a lot of the songs they played were fine songs, but not DANCING songs, which is kind of the point of prom. Basically, I was hugely let down by that.

At about 10 {prom ended at 11}, I started looking around again for My Guy--just subtly, you know, checking heads, scanning the room. He wasn't anywhere to be seen.

And he wasn't for the entire night. I even glanced around for him when we went outside. He and his friends had actually ditched prom. Judging by Facebook statuses I saw the next day (that's not stalkerish at all), he was riding around questionable parts of town doing God knows what until the wee hours of the morning. He also posted a status saying that the prom was basically a joke.

I kind of agree with that statement, but he had no grounds to say it on. I mean, if he'd actually STAYED I might've been like "Haha." But he didn't. He practically walked through one door and straight out the other. Ugh. What a freaking loser.

Sooo anyway. The ride home was kind of dull because Kirsten's dad drove, and he couldn't have the radio on and still here Kirsten's directions. So it was kind of quiet and tiring. But it was the highlight of the night aside from Olive Garden and about 37 minutes of prom.

We got home, tip-toed around gathering stuff, my friends left, I ate some of my five cheese ziti that was leftover from Olive Garden, brushed out my failed curls, changed into PJs, brushed my teeth {I think} and slammed into bed.

Interesting night XD

Friends

I love people. I love meeting new people, hanging out with old people, hating annoying people, loving funny people, the whole people-person sha-bang. Making friends is a great pastime, and there here are so many types of friends to make.

THE TYPICAL CAST:

OFFICIAL BEST FRIEND {or BFF}: An official best friend is the girl who gets the title, even though you might not see her all that much. She's awesome and you tell each other everything, but you don't have as many every day things in common. Usually this a person you've known for a long time.

FUNCTIONING BEST FRIEND: A functioning best friend is the girl who might really be your BFF if it weren't for the official one. You do life together and have more in common, etc., but you can't replace your Official BFF because she'd be pissed/hurt/etc..

THAT GIRL: That Girl is basically the girl that's in your crowd, but you don't actually know her that much. She seems sort of nice {or mean}, but you don't really know her enough to make a judgment. So she sits there in friendship limbo until...well, never.

THE POPULAR CHICK: This is the girl that everyone is nice to because she's gorgeous and has 1682 Facebook friends. You know she's not a particularly dynamic personality {and you may even really hate her}, but you're nice to her because everyone is. It's a law of nature. And who knows, maybe you can grab one of her cast-off guys.

THE QUIET ONE: Um, yeah. She's quiet, so who knows? You can't strongly like her or dislike her because she never opens her mouth except to say "Bless you" when someone sneezes.

THE CHEESE-GRATER: Everyone has one of these. The friend that you grit your teeth and call a friend because...you don't even know why. She's that girl who somehow annoys the flaming piss out of you by doing next to nothing. Maybe she tells stupid jokes, or chews with her mouth open, or laughs like an ape, or any number of subtly obnoxious things. The Cheese-Grater is even more irritating if you're the only one who feels this way.

THE CLIFF: You know that girl that you're always self-conscious about? The one who calls every "That's what she said" joke, talks really loud in restaurants, and occasionally scares off the cute guys? Yeah. She's constantly on the edge of TOO FAR {hence "The Cliff"} and you can never be sure that she knows when to stop. It's nerve-wracking.

ADDITIONAL TITLES {These may apply to another friend, or be added to someone who already has a title.}

THE SPONGE: The Sponge is the girl who always seems to have misplaced her wallet. {"Oh my god, I am so sorry, I can't believe this, I must have left it at a home...What? You'll pay for me? Oh my gosh, are you sure? Thank you so much." *repeat*}

THE FLIRT: It's a classic. Batting eyelashes, giggle incessantly, pushing herself into the seat next to the hottie, etc. It's even worse if the guys go for it.

THE SENSITIVE ONE: She cries when the dog dies. She funds Save the Seals programs. She acts as if you've committed murder when you laugh at anything that looks slightly underprivileged. It's sweet you guess, but also monumentally annoying.

Were Going to Be Friends- "Giveaway!"

Gotta have friends.  I've met alot of cool bloggers online.  I only know a few in real life, but would love to meet many in person some day.  Well since were talking about blogger friends I'd love to meet,  (see how subtle I am) you should (if you haven't already) definitely check out my good bud Kel of Housewife Savant.  See she's pure wit and entertainment.  She'll make you laugh, she'll make you cry from laughing so hard and for her, because she lives in a redneck neighborhood.  She hates Martha Stewart but she crafts just like her.  Which is why I'm so exposing her, in my exploits to win her glitter egg giveaway..  (see I love Martha I think Kel does too in her subconscious otherwise why in the heck would she be glittering eggs?)..
 proof is in the pudding

Hope she's keeping them refrigerated, I'd hate to get food poisoning after I win and they arrive.  Love egg salad.  Especially with a little bling.

So check out Housewife Savant (she's back in full force thank goodness).  No need to enter her giveaway as I plan on winning.  I'm kidding... (but not really).  Go ahead, enter with my blessing of bad luck..  Again... I'M JUST KIDDING...  but not really...
Housewife Savant
AND her blog design is pretty fresh, If I do say so myself..

Gone Gone Gone

I've been gone, gone, gone.... but now I'm back. Sorry no new exciting gigs to report on, its always scary slow during the Christmas ~ New Year stretch. I made a quick cash on New Years Eve at the Bellagio, I was back home by 9:30 pm covered in glitter from the Ice Princess Atmosphere models we prepped for the grand ball. Of course, I forgot my camera.. sheesh, someday I'll get the hang of that. But I didn't forget my camera on this day a few weeks ago. My siblings (and cousin Angie who is like my little sister) and I got together to cook a few days before Christmas, in an effort to bring our family traditions to Vegas. Our mothers spent hours over the stoves in one another's homes making tamales, posole, tortillas and cookies for the holidays. So we did the same for a day, it was well worth the calories just to revisit good childhood memories and make new ones with our own kids running amok.

The day after Christmas we headed to the snow in our Taurus. You know how you always feel like your forgetting something when your packing and you can't put your finger on it? Well, I did put my finger on it a bit too late. No dog sitter... eek! Ya, all our regulars were out of town and there was no room at the inn (kennel) for poor Ace. So we brought 97 pounds of fur, panting and slobber with us on our 4 day trip in the back seat. The monkeys were really good sports about it. Especially when he would stretch out and cram the two of them into one seat. Before we knew it not only did he take up their space, his whole head would be on the arm rest in the front seat between Mike and I. I would finally get fed up and climb out of my seat and scrunch him back down to a reasonable position. Mike was sure we were gonna get a ticket for attempting to moon an officer while wrestling with a canine. On the last day of our "planned" trip to Flagstaff AZ, we met with Mike's BFF and his family. We spent the day at the mall, we swanked it up with a fancy schmancy dinner and movie with the kids at Sam's Club. Yep were big spenders.

One thing I learned that day, is that it isn't always about where you are but who your with. Recognize this blogger? Yep that's Jeanette from Bliss. She is Mike's/ BFF's/ eternal companion... AND... one of my good good friends. We had such a great time catching up with the Shumway's, and we were so sad that the day went by so fast. So we extended our 4 days to 6 and followed them home. We stayed up late just like old times talking the night away. We had a flippin YUMMY dinner the next night and once again stayed up TOO late lolly gagging. Jeanette and I had a great time talking about Bloggerland, and YES gossiping about many of you.. LOL

I've always considered myself a lazy friend. I'm not into high maintenance friendships. To me my most cherished friends are the ones where you can pick up where you left off, no matter the amount of time in between visits. It's easy and comfortable and you can just be yourself.

It really was a great way to end the year. But I'm happy to say bye bye to 2009. Glad to see it "Gone Gone Gone"..... moving on..

Up All Night, Sleep all Day!

Uh! yea I wish. I remember the days when 2 a.m. was a normal bed time for me. The night really didnt get started until 8p.m. You might say "Ohhh she was a partier. I knew it! Clubs, dancing boys.." Nah A regular night for Mike and I was more like, late dinner (anyone who ate before 7p.m. was on social security in my mind), out to a movie, off to a friend's house, sitting around lolly-gagging, midnight fast food run, head home around 1 a.m. and then... I'll leave the rest to your imagination. These days my imagination is tired by 8:30 p.m. But once in a blue moon I get sucked into the computer and I stay up way too late. It's usually because I start a project like this.I made this for my friend who's house we didn't leave until 1 a.m. and who is still missing those late night fast food runs, (my butt can't take them anymore, but man... her's can, unfair). Because of Jeanette, I blog, I don't write nearly as well as her, she is so talented in the keyboard department. I should probably see if she wants changes before I show this to the world. I love learning new things and playing around with Photoshop, I'm a total addict and its easy to stay up until 2a.m. but 7 a.m. is a monster!

"Book of Love" yay another book club!

As I have mentioned before, I love books. I am even considering going back to school to become a librarian. The process is daunting but possibly worth it. Boulder City has a beautiful library that feels very homey inside and very beautiful on the outside. I just found out they are hiring for a shelver, part time. The pay isn't much but I am seriously considering it because its not about the money for me.
This is Becky..
She's my favorite Librarian, head of the children's department. This chick has great taste in books and can always find something for my kids to read, especially when they are moaning and groaning at the prospect of reading a book. She has a fun attitude and feels like a friend in what some perceive an intimidating world of books.
This is the latest Young Reader series that Becky referred to my family. The Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke. Wow is it good, its a dark and imaginative tale. My kids and I listen to it together. The audio version of the first book, Inkheart is performed by Lynn Redgrave who does a great job. Then Inkspell is performed by Brendan Fraiser. At first I was disappointed in the change, but as he read, I began to respect his performance more and more. This is his best body of work in my humble opinion. And now we are on Inkdeath and there is another change, Allan Corduner. He performed "The Book Thief" and his voice was perfect, but I've not adjusted to this performance yet and find myself reading more than listening. I think Brendan and his amazing range of voices spoiled me.

On the Adult side of things. I've decided I'm starting a book club.
LIBRARY LOVE BOOK CLUB

This is going to be a FUN book.. book club. For those of us who love to read for entertainment to escape reality. Also to discover great reads that aren't necessarily mainstream. It will be Bi-monthly and yes we will have a party after we finish each book. First one being JUNE 2nd. This is going to be the first book. Click on the link for Amazon.com info.
"One Thousand White Women" by Jim Fergus.

SPOILER ALERT! DONT READ Kirkus Review I'M SO MAD RIGHT NOW!
I'm not finished with it but so far, its great. Its not for the prudish. But its not X-rated either. So pick it up and let me know what you think. Get it from your local library. And if you're local mark your calendar. And if your a blogging friend, I look forward to your review.

What are you reading? What is your favorite book?
