If Grown-Ups Were Running the World (Where is the Meta-Prioritizing?) Herod and Khadafy: Twin Sons of Different Mothers? Redux

 Earthquakes. Hurricanes, TORNADOES. Bombs.
The Japanese disaster of "biblical porportions',
as Glen Ifill called it just now on Washington Week,
should give the humans "running things" a  real chance to show where we are in our Human Development.
That is, by now, here in the enlightened age
of the two thousand and teens?
...when we are GLUTTED with Wise men all the
Pulitzer Prize Winners running around,
full of Enlightened Opinions, when we have magical technology
and unequalled access to one another; when we can Whip Up a City to host the Olympics, making in spectacular manner the Great Altar to the $port god$, --spare no cost!-if it isn't LOOTED out by then...-surely we are thinking ahead, taking care of everything. Surely our leaders are able to think ahead, help out, prioritize, figure it out, make it happen.
So, in dealing with for example,
1. bombing libya

King Herod

Moammar Kadafi  - Colonel

2. reaction to
radiation possibilities e.g. worst case scenario:
are the Countries all done preparing the lead or concrete etc sarcophagus sarcophagi that Japan will need in a few days if things go south?
3. Salt from Japan--
surely Our Leaders are thinking, "what is the larger view?"
"hmmm.. Let'see, OK, in another few days this land or that water; these goods, those structures will be no good due to radiation. so, lets harvest what we can before it is wasted. let's move, keeping ahead of the worst case or any case,  consequences... "Yes?"
Uh
i don't see any evidence of competent long term planning with swift intervention when needed..
if media is evidence,
 the answer is no.
The Media, however, surely are running the show. Give us a human interest story about the Fukushima 50 to make us cry,
 give us their tweets
but don't report.
Don't report-
your job is To Tease.

TV is the Opiate of the Masses.

On a global level, where is the cooperation? If you say, even with a red face, it's suppose to be the United Nations, one bursts into
Laughter that ends in Anger.
this is the gathering of good men?, the Best, those driven by peace, even self sacrificial men, this is the non-corrupt group, the one that will punish others for being corrupt!-- this is the best, our brightest men and a coupla women in power could come up with?
Don't get me started on the UN.
If one's job was to write a rousing piece about the Glorious United Nations--(you know, insert music from decades ago, that lovely uplifting music that signified a Modern Good United Group that would not allow any bad things to go unaddressed- Swift justice for the Offending Nation: Yay! The U.N.! ----)
See how crazy that sounds! The laughter that ends in Anger.

There is no Meta Prioritizing happening. Where is the Meta Organizing!?

Herod and Kadafy- twin sons of different mothers?

Libya, similarly problematic.
The time is over, are you KIDDING?
What good is movement to "save the people" after the slaughter? Fucryin out loud.
it is no longer an uprising it has become a civil war. who knows where the violence we now inflict will end?

David Brooks PBS NewsHour acted almost mildly surprised that America used to be country taking the lead and now we are not taking the lead. I think bush did that. Did Brooks forget what the current president ran on? we allow our leaders to do what we want them to do or we don't. Give Voice much to your leaders? Rangel and Brownback, did they get your thanks regarding Darfur? Where?
Everyone who is even partially a reporter wonders, why so late on libya, it might have been better, like, um if we moved during the people's uprising? even a peaceful intervention then might have worked.  I'm no military expert or humanitarian prize winner but,

Things change, things remain the same.

by the way,
A womans body is worth less than a dead rat/
http://marysbeagooddogblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/rape-in-congo-womans-body-is-worth-less.html

A picture is worth a thousand words...

Are you your brother's Keeper?
when we don't intervene on individual levels,
due to uneasy ambivalence re privacy and walls; the same is manifested when as groups
 we allow a madman
to mow down a bunch of humans because they are
HIS people in HIS country- YiKes! His?
(If his name was Jared Lee Loughner he would have been stopped by now---

Pictures of Ann Coulter, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann, Sarah Palin, George Bush, lawrence o'donnell, Joe Biden, Dick Cheney, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Donna Brazile, Rush Limbaugh, George Will, Nancy Pelosi, Arianna Huffington

I recently image googled some popular politicians and pundits, and was rather surprised to find a difference in the number of images which had been photoshopped, altered, or smutted up. There seems to be a difference depending on certain factors. More research required... I am interested in anyone's opinion on this. I will not mention what i found;
you must do it yourself. If your search is set on "no filter" you might notice a slightly different set of pics than if set on moderate. That is, the folks whose heads have been put on certain types of bodies
(s and m outfits) may or may not not show if you have your searches somewhat filtered.
but it works either way.

Our Office promotes nonviolence. Keeping a calm, pleasant, courteous interaction when when speaking with an insane ignorant ass---just kidding, you know me...
when when speaking with someone who is WHOLLY
uninformed, wrong, misinformed,
suffering from delusions, out of their mind--oops there i go again.--

it is hard to remain peaceful.
can't we all just get along- hah!
I will give you that. Even when a person is sincere in their beliefs, i find that others who disagree are ready to fight and argue in a most unkind way.
Folks who would be kind, forgiving, charming, polite, sweet to natives who are throwing babies into the volcano in order to have an abundant harvest are filled with teeth-gnashing vitriol when finding out a neighbor differs with them on financial, religious, or health care issues.

don't believe
 anything you see.
anything can be photoshopped!

Some earlier pictures and
related ponderings about the violence potential of
our humor HERE and HERE
these
next two photos were found when i put George Will in Search, had to laugh!
and the POW pic of McCain always makes me think of my father in Nam.

My ponderment is in
looking at the factors that contribute to certain populations acting in certain ways.
My own thought is that civility and  nonviolent, honorable behavior will always win out. If one wants power, if one wants to persuade, if one wants to win, in the end; meanness and nastiness will not help.
Will Not Help. find something else to artfully photoshop. like alfalfa buckwill.

pow mccain recovering from torture

the real santa

And of Course, BatBoy- no proof has EVER been offered
that this was photoshopped.

I am going to look a little further into this and ponder who does what to photos on the net, and why.

Is the Press Afraid to Criticize President Obama? White House Correspondent Dinner 2011 Changes Course.

I remember having a lot of laughs at the expense of George Bush, Bill Clinton, Reagan, and others. It was the one time poking the president was OK, and done with leveity by those who had the best knowlege of what was happening in politics. Sharp, witty, but with class and good nature. Like the Dean Martin Roasts.  But last night's Press Dinner although funny in parts felt more like watching some bullies who were a lot bigger than their prey, and reminded me of a meanspirited chicago Political Campaign more than the typical WHCD dinner*.
I am hearing from my friends in DC, and reading a few reports, that it appears as if reporters are afraid of the administration....
and BTW
where are all the reports about the protests against the war?*** wars?
Protests?

Obama's birth "video" "oops, back to square one..." heh.

The worst part for me, that made me cringe, was when the President knew and recited details about
the TV show trump hosts, and sarcastically said, "nicely managed" or some such spank.
That is, he was actually, seriously trying to --at best discredit trump (discredit trump!)- or worse, engage in a snarky insult contest with donald trump at this dinner as if he needed to start running against him campaign-wise. Holy moley. It just felt tacky.

*"Often a reflection of the times, the after-dinner comments by the president are generally an opportunity for taking a few shots at the media, their political opponents and, most importantly, themselves... For his last of eight straight appearances at the dinner, Bill Clinton starred in one of the most memorable video productions in the history of the event, portraying himself as a latch-key president who wandered the halls of the White House, answered phones and manicured the grounds as the rest of the staff, his vice president and his wife abandoned him for future endeavors."

***John Stossel states, "The anti-war movement was all over the news before President Obama was elected. But apparently they weren’t really anti-war ... . Two college professors just released a study of national protests between 2007 and 2009. What did they find?… After January 2007, the attendance at antiwar rallies [measured in] roughly the tens of thousands, or thousands, through the end of 2008.… After the election of Barack Obama as president, the order of magnitude of antiwar protests dropped [...] Organizers were hard pressed to stage a rally with participation in the thousands, or even in the hundreds. For example, we counted exactly 107 participants at a Chicago rally on October 7, 2009.Amazing. Especially because the war in Afghanistan ramped up after Obama was elected. American fatalities shot up in 2009 and 2010. The protesters have remained silent over Libya. "

I"m just curious about our integrity as individuals and as groups and as press...

Blaming the DailyKos, Sarah Palin, TV and Radio, Rap Music, Politicians for the Arizona Killings of Jared Lee Loughner

Does angry speech or violence in metaphor provoke violence in real life? Some thoughts:
On the Dailykos, a writer who claims he had worked hard and spent his money to elect Congrsswoman Giffords was angry about her stances on issues.
Three days before the shootings, he wrote why he despised her and
typed, "She is Dead to Me, she is dead to me she is dead to me."
Is that phrase now to be banned? (it was removed from the daily kos site)
-Sarah Palin put the congresswoman's district in the (guns) "crosshairs" on her webpage--should she take blame? (has since removed from web).
Are we hatefully promoting violence with phrases and symbols? Do we ban them?

Here is one comprehensive listing of violence in politics:: Violence in Media
and HERE
and i am searching for other compilations from differing views.
like this one from daily kos,
 this and this and
huffingtonpost

Since this Jared Lee Loughner was remembered by co-students for reading poetry in class in a way which scared people-- grabbing his crotch, dancing around the room, yelling--
is that enough to finally Ban
Rap music?
Rap music causes violence?
(2 live crew lyrics HERE) sample it i Dare You
The Violence of Rap--page 84 (ciminology text)

I have serious free speech concerns.
[So does the father of the little child who was murdered,
(-speaking of the idea of taking away various freedoms to match each fairly rare violent event (his words)
 in a heart-wrenching interview: HERE]

This horrible event
in my opinioin
should be provoking a national discussion about how to assist those exhibiting mental instability or violence who do not seem to want help.

Here is my lengthy post about the Arizona tragedy.

It may be that this horrible event will chill out some of the mean-spirited vitriol in our speech. But our speech simply reflects what is in our hearts. What is in the hearts of those you know?

my question:
Do we allow free speech or not? How far will we go to ban humor? Is lenny bruce rolling over?

Is there really a double or triple standard in how we excuse or allow vitriolic speech or humor?

"While Americans are grappling to understand the Arizona tragedy, the absolute vacuum of leadership on both sides is staggering.

We live in a country that has been struck by John Hinckley Jr. and Sirhan Sirhan, Lee Harvey Oswald and Mark David Chapman. And one that’s been hit by terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, the DC Sniper John Allen Muhammad, the Fort Hood killer Nidal Hasan, and 19 highjackers all claiming to be freedom fighters. You’d think we’d understand the difference between madmen and terrorists.
All evidence points to the fact that the assailant from this weekend was severely mentally disturbed. His belief system was not rational by any modern political standard.
He was an atheist, believed George W. Bush was responsible for 9/11, feared a global currency, cited the Communist Manifesto as one of his favorite books and thought the Mars rover landing was staged. These are not the opinions of a coherent individual.
Far too often, we have seen in our schools and in our post offices, acts of violence from misfits of society. While we can look for the warning signs, these horrific events will always be with every nation.
Though violence is a human problem,
every American citizen can make a personal choice today.
Do you believe that Americans, from any walk of life, can convince themselves they are freedom fighters and carry out acts of violence? My answer is yes. If you agree then you must take a clear stand.
Turning these horrific events into an opportunity for a political attack is a very childish response to a very grown-up problem. This is not about winning a political blame game. Atheists are not to blame. Those who hate George W. Bush are not to blame. Those who don’t believe in space travel are not to blame. Jared Lee Loughner is to blame. Period.
This tragedy should not be used as an opportunity to try and bend reality to retroactively place a madman on the other side of the aisle. It should be a time to pray for the victims and their families, a time that we can all come together and state that violence is off limits for all sides in a Republic. It’s a time for us to state with a unified passion that we won’t accept anyone who threatens or actually carries out violence.
Denouncing violence from all sides including your own does not make your movement any less just. To quote Martin Luther King:

"But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. "
I challenge all Americans,
left or right, regardless if you’re a politician, pundit, painter, priest, parishioner, poet or porn star to agree with all of the following.
•I denounce violence, regardless of ideological motivation.

•I denounce anyone, from the Left, the Right or middle, who believes physical violence is the answer to whatever they feel is wrong with our country.

•I denounce those who wish to tear down our system and rebuild it in their own image, whatever that image may be.

•I denounce those from the Left, the Right or middle, who call for riots and violence as an opportunity to bring down and reconstruct our system.

•I denounce violent threats and calls for the destruction of our system – regardless of their underlying ideology – whether they come from the Hutaree Militia or Frances Fox Piven.

•I hold those responsible for the violence, responsible for the violence. I denounce those who attempt to blame political opponents for the acts of madmen.
•I denounce those from the Left, the Right or middle that sees violence as a viable alternative to our long established system of change made within the constraints of our constitutional Republic.
I will stand with anyone willing to sign that pledge. Today I make a personal choice. I urge leaders of both sides and all walks of life to join me as all Americans joined hands on 9.12.2001.
I believe that we must change ourselves to hold on to our republic. That’s why I have been talking about e4. Enlightenment. Education. Empowerment. Entrepreneurship. It’s a personal solution for all of us to become the people we were born to be, not the people we’ve allowed ourselves to become. I have called for a personal revolution; change ourselves in order to change the world. Those who live with honor and are responsible to themselves and their families will be the key to the future of our Republic, not those playing political games.
While everyone seems to be focused on politics, I instead choose to focus on Christina Green, the nine year old victim killed Saturday. Born on 9.11.2001, she is now a victim of another case of horrific violence. I hope we can all remember Christina by acting the way we did when she was one day old: To focus on values and principles, to use common sense and stop playing politics."
from glenn beck

...We don’t have proof yet that this was political, but the odds are that it was. She’s been the target of violence before. And for those wondering why a Blue Dog Democrat, the kind Republicans might be able to work with, might be a target, the answer is that she’s a Democrat who survived what was otherwise a GOP sweep in Arizona, precisely because the Republicans nominated a Tea Party activist. (Her father says that “the whole Tea Party” was her enemy.) And yes, she was on Sarah Palin’s infamous “crosshairs” list. [...]
You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.
from Paul Krugman

The Huffington Post has a lot of articles, one about why we have so much mental illness...

Update: A Victim of the shooting, James Eric Fuller, a 63-year-old survivor of the Arizona shootings, was arrested and taken for psychiatric examination after threatening Tucson tea party cofounder Trent Humphries, according to ABC News. Video HERE and HERE

how we can better discern who is in need of our help,
how to help those who may not ask for it,
how to gently move those enduring mental torture
