Keeping the Illusion Alive...

Ever heard this term?  "Keeping the Illusion Alive"  I cant remember where I heard it.  Well I used to live by this  when it came to domestic cleanliness.  This means you run around the house and clean really fast before company comes over to keep the illusion of a clean house alive.  Last night I was wishing for a real magician.  I spent a few hours on the computer avoiding the" Aftermath"...
The after math of After Dinner and After School
I never did care for math.  Well I've decided recently (about 7 months ago) It would no longer be an illusion.  I would be my own company every morning so I can wake up to this.
(i really need to do something with this table, I think a can of paint is calling)
Cleanliness of sorts, don't get too close, I'm still trying to keep the illusion alive. :-)

Temptation Stomped!

Sometimes I am tempted to publicly blog about my kids.  I read all these great stories about kids on other blogs, and how fun it is to read the experiences, It makes me wanna say "Look how cool my kids are too!" But alas, I'm a bit paranoid.  Just when I'm thinking I'm over reacting and should stop being ridiculous, something happens.  Well this time its happened in our community.  So I'm okay with keeping the kids under lock and key.  I've been so sick in the stomach about this, as have many others in the community.  And yes my family has had direct contact with this scum, but not in this manner thank goodness.  But the victims have been on my son's teams and my husband, (who once said "somethings not right with this guy!") has coached under his supervision.  So the temptation to share my kiddos with the world has once again been stomped out.  You just never know.

Normal

Titel: Normal
Genre: Drama/Thriller
Land: Tjeckien
År: 2009
Regi: Julius Sevcík
I rollerna: Milan Knazko, Pavel Gajdos, Dagmar Havlová, Miroslav Táborský

SPT... 8 Great Stages in Life

I haven't done much blogging this month and have missed doing SPT.  But I'm back on the wagon.  I was up until 1:30 am last night bloggin for some un-goodly reason..
This is a group of 8 images on my wall that represent 8 stages in my family's life.  Best thing about them, are the people in the images.

Mike and the Guys... this is a picture of Mike and his High School buddies in St.Johns, Mike says he's never been able to match the friendships he made back then.
Nicole and Chloe... This is Nicole my BFF from High School, Nic and I have a bond that is effortless.
Stephanie... Steph was the first girlfriend I made after High School, she and I would spend hours and hours hanging at Dennys til well into the night just talking and talking, now we do it on the phone.  Were both night owls.
Elders...  These are the missionaries (that I can't find) that taught me the lessons before I was baptized.
Shumway's...  Crabtree's and Shumway's go waaaay back to the childhood days of Mike and Rick (Jeanette's hubby) this is a group trip we took to Disneyland, we really need to do this again without itty bitty's.
Curtis Cook... Lived across the street from us and was (and still is) my son's best bud.  Curtie moved away and Z still misses him lots.
Huxford's and Tobler's...  These two families are our current friendship family.  We do tons of fun things with them all the time.  CrabTobHux is what we preface our trips and activities with.
Life is just that much better when you can share it with Friends.  Friends are Family We Choose.  Thats what my cool necklace I got from my sister friend BJ says.

Diary of a Makeup Artist.. Entourage Memories.. Entry #12

Here is a story I've neglected to write down.
When I was a senior in high school, I rented "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and I developed a teenage crush on Keanu Reeves that lasted a few years until say Point Break! Well I got over my teenage crush. Didn't hang onto a single movie poster or Keanu article. I was done fawning over celebrities. I had a little relapse with Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall but I digress. I even neglected to see all of the ever popular Matrix flicks. Fast forward to 2004. I'm a professional makeup artist and part of Jude Law's entourage at the Showest Awards. I'm calm, cool and collected. Never mind the gaggle of other celebrities in the room. This is Jude with his assistant.
On the far right of this photo over the shoulder of Mr. White, that is me in the glasses talking to said assistant. No pics of me as I'm not an important person in the room. You can see my blurred face over Jude's shoulder in the photo below as well.
Anyway the point being that I was in a room filled with Hollywood hot shots and completely un-phased. That was until I rounded a press corner and we ran into Keanu Reeves.
I was suddenly attacked with Teen-itis! Those feelings of "OH MY GOSH, ITS KEANU REEVES!!" began to resurface. It was horrible! Here I was at work in a very professional atmosphere on the verge of a teenage freak out! I thought I was SO over him, and I was morphing into CIVILIAN. I remember thinking "I'm an adult for goodness sake! Why am I sweating and turning red? I do NOT get star-struck! I am not a fanatic! This cannot be happening to me!" I made a run for the door and got the heck outta there!

I swear I'm over him again! I think I would freak if I was in the presence of Peter Gabriel. What celeb would you freak over?

Help! No more Disney Princess... :-(

This is it!  The last Disney Princess left in my daughter's room.  One tiny decal on her mirror, that she just asked me to remove.....  "sob"    She's almost nine and over Disney Princess decor.  It's been a sad transition for me, I'm NOT over Disney Princesses!
First thing she got rid of was her Cinderella bedding. I bought her a comforter for Christmas that fell apart in the washer before it ever made it to her bed. I was then informed  that I would be making her a quilt, so it would be special ;-)  She picked these colors for her room this pattern.  It reminds her of Punky Brewster.

Help Plea #1
What do I do with this old wicker daybed?  I can't decide if its worth salvaging or not.  We had some company over just a few days after we got it when my daughter was 3.  The kids thought it would be fun to break off the wicker, so now it has holes in it.  Always has.  Any ideas or suggestions?
So I finally got the guts to paint this night stand that was mine growing up.  Aqua is my girl's favorite color. She is very happy with the results.  Below is what it looked like prior to paint.
So this is the dresser.  I am very sentimental when it comes to furniture, it's a very strange thing with me.

Help Plea #2
I just dont know if I can paint the whole thing Aqua!  What would you do?

This is the next project.  The craft table.  I'm thinking of skirting it with the remnants from her quilt.  Whadya think?

Help Plea #3
We need to paint the walls still.  My daughter is thinking multiple colors... Too much??

Diary of a Makeup Artist... Earth Hour PSA Entry #11

I was lucky enough to donate my time to the following Public Service Announcement for Earth Hour. I was in charge of Donny's cute face as well as the rest of the background talent. First time I've met the Osmonds. He was very funny, kind, respectful and totally LDS! We had a few "have to be one" laughs. Like there was some equipment in the back of the shot that the director wanted moved and Donny started to move the stuff himself. I had to razz him. I said "Donny this isnt the end of a ward party! Stop putting stuff away!" We had a good belly laugh with that one. The crew asked me if I was in "Mormon Heaven" because I got to touch Donny Osmond. Honestly I was never a big Osmond fan, I just didnt have the exposure growing up. My parents listened to Led Zepplin and Skynyrd. But because he was so pleasant and easy to work with, I am now a Donny fan for sure.

Here is a link to the ET stuff, you can see my shadow walking off the stage for a brief minute.

I had to work during Earth Hour so my family missed it. I had grand intentions that never came to fruition. How was your Earth Hour?
