We begin with the announcer stating in clear John Madden form, [that they have more turnovers than shots is a bad thing...] but the seeming slaughter to come did not materialize. Whaa!?
OK FLORIDA just moved to an unpleasant-for-the whole-table-LEAD here early in the second half, or third quarter as i think of it. actually, the entire dining room and bar area is quiet.

 Actually the latter may result in more points for a short period of time.

"GAME NOTES: The sixth-ranked Kansas State Wildcats go in search of their sixth straight win as they head to the Sunshine State to take on the Florida Gators in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Frank Martin's Kansas State club is 9-1, and is expected to challenge for the Big 12 Conference crown this season. The Wildcats had a tougher-than-expected time in their most recent outing, but rose to the occasion in what turned out to be a 68-60 win at Loyola-Chicago last Saturday. The victory was K-State's fifth in a row since suffering its only setback of the season against top- ranked Duke on November 22nd. The 'Cats, who have won 12 straight games in the month of December, will play four more non-conference tilts following this one before opening Big 12 play at Oklahoma State on January 8th.
Florida has bounced back from its second loss of the season (UCF in Orlando) by winning back-to-back games, the most recent of which was a 65-52 verdict against Kent State at home nine days ago. As a result, the Gators are 7-2, and they have been playing exceptional defense this year. In fact, the last four opponents have been held to an average of 51.5 ppg. Florida is coached by Billy Donovan, who would love a big win over a ranked foe here in an attempt to continue his team's preparation for the rigors of SEC play, which gets underway at home against Ole Miss on January 8th.

This bout marks the first-ever meeting between Kansas State and Florida on the hardwood.
Kansas State is getting it done at both ends of the floor this season, scoring 76.2 ppg on 45.2 percent field goal accuracy, while permitting 62.5 ppg on 38.5 percent shooting. Add favorable margins in both rebounding (+8.6) and turnovers (+1.9), and it's easy to see why the Wildcats are off to such a solid start. Jacob Pullen (16.3 ppg, 4.0 apg) leads the team in scoring and assists, but he is just a 40.6 percent shooter who has attempted 42 more shots than his closest teammate at this point. Curtis Kelly and Rodney McGruder are both averaging double figures in scoring as well, netting 11.6 and 11.0 ppg, respectively. Pullen made the most of his return to the Windy City last weekend, scoring 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds to lead K-State to a 68-60 win over Loyola-Chicago. Pullen hoped for an even better day, but a tough shooting game (5-of-17) made him earn everything he got. Martavious Irving chipped in 12 points off the bench, while Kelly tallied 10 points for the 'Cats, who won the game despite suffering a 45-38 rebounding deficit.
A total of four players are averaging double digits in the scoring column for Florida, led by Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker with 12.1 ppg apiece. Vernon Macklin adds 10.9 ppg to the mix, while Chandler Parsons chips in 10.2 ppg. Alex Tyus is close to joining his fellow starters, as he contributes 9.9 ppg for a team that puts up 70.9 ppg on 48.2 percent field goal efficiency. The Gators have had their share of difficulties from long range, connecting on just 31.8 percent of their three-point tries, but a +7.3 rebounding margin coupled with a defensive effort that yields a mere 59.4 ppg on 41.6 percent shooting has helped the team to its favorable record. Florida has dominated its opponents in the paint this year, and in particular in the last two games where it is averaging 40 ppg. The Gators have held their last four opponents to 37.5 percent shooting from the field. Tyus and Macklin led the Gators in the recent win over Kent State, pouring in 20 and 19 points, respectively. Florida hit 48.4 percent of its total shots in the game, but just 3-of-16 three-pointers. The Gators wore down the Golden Flashes down low, outscoring them in the paint, 46-14."
