X Factor winner Leona Lewis became the first British female in over two decades to top the American charts, with her debut single Bleeding Love. The former receptionist - who said it was her "dream" to crack the US - follows in the footsteps of Kim Wilde, who reached number one in The Billboard Hit 100 chart in 1987 with "You Keep Me Hangin On".
